Just been diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. for 2/3 months I had sore testes, had a scan done eventually after visiting A&E.. Sent for CT scan and now waiting to go into hospital in July after my holiday. No other symptoms at all apart from a sore left side under ribs which I thought was just sore back.

Hi, I’ve had a radical nephrectomy early in 2020, three lung resections, and a brain tumour taken out of my cerebellum. I currently have a 9mm tumour in my right lung. I’ve been doing a ketogenic diet and my tumour has stayed the same size between the two scans three months apart. I e now gone to low GI diet with off label drugs suggested by Care Oncology in London. I’m taking Mebendazole, Atorvastatin, Metformin, and at the moment doxycycline for a month only. I’m also taking loads of supplements, including CBD, pulsed with low dose naltrexone, melanin and quite a lot more. My question is this. Are these treatments taken seriously by the establishment or is this type of thing viewed by the establishment the same as I regard the use of crystals and charging them by the moonlight. Have you had many patients go down the alternative route and, if so, what is the success rate. My subtype is clear cell.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer last year, on 1/4/23 after waking up the day before and finding blood in my urine. I had a radical nephrectomy on 1/27/23, removing my kidney that had a 13cm - 'grapefruit-sized' - tumor. Happily, it had not spread beyond a renal vein and here I am in February 2024 feeling hale and hearty. I have 3 more immunotherapy infusions and then treatment will be done. I get the 6-month CT scans for a couple of years and then annually and my 5-year odds are good: 75% chance likelihood that the cancer will not have returned in that time. I received wonderful, life-saving care through Mass. General-Brigham's cancer center, and so I feel very fortunate to be a year post-op and feeling 100%. But that is a very long introduction to my main point, which is that last January and February it was so incredibly helpful to view these Kidney Cancer UK survivor stories. The diagnosis was a lot to wrap my head around and it really helped ease (some of) my anxiety to hear others share their own experiences with renal cancer and their journeys toward recovery. This one by Donald was especially interesting because he talks about the years-long nagging cough. Toxins, you say?! Wow. Immediately following the nephrectomy my 6-year cough was GONE. None of my health practitioners made this connection but you solved a long-standing mystery for me, which was corroborated by the complete elimination of my cough following surgery. My thanks to everyone who shared their stories. It was all such good information for me to have when I was overwhelmed by the news of my diagnosis and now I have my own story that I can share with others. Gratefully, wishing you all good health.

This really really hacks me off. She was let down so badly by the nhs. How many millions more are in the same situation? It struck a cord as i too have just been told i have a 10cm growth in my left kidney after a ct scan for stomach problems. I am still waiting to find out if urology are getting involved and for some reason having a blood pressure monitor on for 24hrs at the end of the month. With the state of the nhs at the minute i have given up and resigned myself to something bad is coming. May the young lady rest in peace.

I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer earlier this year. I had no symptoms. No pain, no weight loss or anything. I ended up in the ER because of blood in Urine. I was sent to a Urologist. I have a lost of appetite, hating food that I loved and hating the smell of some foods cooking. I still don't understand how or why I got Kidney Cancer. Three members of my family have died from various forms of Cancer but no one has ever been diagnosed with Kidney Cancer.

I had the same thing happen to me. Four months ago I had a UTI. I went to the doctor, I was put on antibiotics and I thought all was fine. Four weeks later I noticed blood in my urine, and again I had an infection, except this time I was in a lot of pain. I went to the ER, where they did a cat Scan and found I had kidney cancer in my left Kidney. They sent me to a Urologist, and after I take some Chemo in a few weeks, he will remove my left kidney. In the meantime I too have a loss of appetite, have lost some weight, am sick to my stomach just smelling some food, etc.,. The only difference between you and I is, that my brother who is 2 years younger had that same cancer about 20 something years ago. He is till alive and doing great. Here's hoping we both get just as lucky.
